Boulder Tiny House

The active clients for this project prefer to spend their time outdoors so quality over quantity drove the decisions around the interior of their ‘tiny house’. With a foot-print of just 450 s.f., this little residence embodies quality with spatial and energy efficiency. The house contains a fully-equipped kitchen, ¾ bath, office, sleeping loft and a sub-grade storage area as well as detached carport.

The architect’s goal, guided by the clients, was to seamlessly fuse indoor and out-door spaces to make the living area feel expansive. Inside, particular attention was paid to allow spaces to do double duty. Storage takes advantage of every nook and cranny and the mezzanine-level sleeping space overlooks the great room (kitchen/living/dining). The great room’s bi-fold door opens to the patio and endless lap pool and looks out on Boulder open space. The home sits on a ¾ acre lot within the city limits and has over 100 trees, shrubs and grasses on the property, providing privacy and green space.
