Green Home H
An urban infill project on a leafy street of the Mapleton Landmark District in the heart of downtown, this new building combines the scale and elements of historic structures with current sustainable technologies. The Spruce House rates highly for its walkable location, bike linkages, and easy access to plentiful public transportation, as well as for its proximity to Open Space.
Along with a tight, energy efficient envelope, high-efficiency radiant heat, low water use, and photovoltaics, the design of this house integrates innovative strategies for longevity. It is registered for LEED pilot credits in Design for Adaptability. The goal is to design a house that can easily adapt to changes in the occupants’ lives. With minimal or no changes, this project can accommodate the homeowners’ aging-in-place or changing physical abilities. This house has all the main functions of living and entertainment on the ground level.
